Quick and Dirty Boat Building in Review

Quick and Dirt Boat Building
We participated in the Quick and Dirty Boatbuilding Contest at the Anacortes Waterfront Festival last weekend (May 15th). We had 6 hours to build a boat using limited materials (see blog below). We chose to build a 20' long x 20" wide decked boat that we hand paddled.
We finished the boat (minus paint) in 5 hours 20 minutes, much better than most of the other competitors.Finished Boat

Matthew and Pat Digging in.

Are we having fun yet?

Toward the end of the race, Pat decided to knee paddle which brought some shouts of "Nice Butt!" from some unknown females in the crowd. He was so in the zone he didn't even notice.

After the race Pat took the boat out as a stand up paddleboard and did a lap around the marina.
We had a great time and tied for 2nd with 2 other teams. Next year we'll be back and we've already got some ideas!

I don't usually throw any parts of my boats even if its no longer usable. I reassemble it, get the wooden floor and used this part in creating a mini surf board.
